RPG Maker’s Official Forum is Shutting Down With No Archive Planned

RPG Maker’s Official Forum is Shutting Down With No Archive Planned

After nearly 15 years of serving as a hub for aspiring game developers, the official RPG Maker Forum is shutting down, and no archive of its content is planned. The forum, which hosted countless discussions, tutorials, and shared resources across multiple versions of the popular game creation software, will go offline permanently.

The closure marks the end of an era for a community that helped thousands of users learn scripting, share custom assets, and troubleshoot bugs. Many long-time members expressed disappointment that the vast library of user-generated content and technical advice will be lost. Without an archive, years of troubleshooting threads, asset packs, and design discussions will simply disappear.

The decision appears to be part of a broader shift by the company behind RPG Maker, which has been consolidating its online presence. While the official forum is closing, some community-run alternatives and third-party sites are expected to remain active. However, the loss of the centralized official board means that unique solutions to obscure bugs and older version-specific tips will become much harder to find.

For developers who relied on the forum for support on legacy versions like RPG Maker 2003 or VX Ace, the shutdown presents a real challenge. The company has not announced any plan to preserve the data, leaving the community to scramble for backups.
