Ubisoft has hired Christoph Hartmann, the former head of Amazon Games, to serve as the general manager of its Creative House 2 studio. Hartmann brings decades of experience in the gaming industry, having previously led Amazon's game development efforts and held executive roles at 2K Games. His appointment signals Ubisoft's push to strengthen its leadership as it works through a period of internal restructuring and shifting market demands.
Creative House 2 is one of several internal studios within Ubisoft's global network. Hartmann will oversee production, strategy, and team growth at the location. The move comes as the company continues to reorganize its development pipeline following several high-profile project delays and cancellations. Hartmann's track record includes overseeing major franchises and building large-scale teams, which Ubisoft likely sees as valuable for stabilizing its operations.
Industry observers note that Hartmann's exit from Amazon Games was unexpected, though he left the company on amicable terms. At Amazon, he was involved in publishing titles like New World and the upcoming Tomb Raider game. His shift to Ubisoft places him at a company that is currently focused on delivering core franchises like Assassin's Creed and Far Cry while also investing in live-service games. Ubisoft has not announced specific projects Hartmann will oversee, but his role is expected to involve both ongoing titles and new intellectual property.
