Sweet Hamster Days review - Tech-Gaming

Sweet Hamster Days might look like pure fan service at first glance. Between the gravure photography and the absurd isekai-hamster setup, it is easy to dismiss this visual novel as a shallow novelty. But underneath that fluffy exterior is a surprisingly heartfelt story about family, nostalgia, and the quiet pain of growing apart.

The game follows a young man who suddenly finds himself transformed into a hamster in a strange new world. What could have been a one-note joke instead becomes a vehicle for exploring real emotional territory. The writing handles themes of loss and connection with more care than you would expect from a premise this silly. The characters feel genuine, and the performances bring them to life in a way that elevates the entire experience.

That said, Sweet Hamster Days is not without its flaws. It has a tendency to linger too long on slice-of-life scenes that do not always move the story forward. Some stretches feel padded, and the pacing can drag when you just want to get back to the main plot.

Still, the game is easy to underestimate. Its better-than-expected character writing and sincere emotional beats make it worth a look for anyone who enjoys visual novels with heart. It may not be for everyone, but those who give it a chance might find something surprisingly sweet underneath all that fur.
