Square Enix has posted a major financial win, with operating profit climbing 88 percent compared to the same period last year. The company credits the jump to solid results in every part of its gaming business, from mobile and MMOs to HD console titles and arcade operations. The standout performers were Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the newly released The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, which together drove significant revenue in the HD games segment.
The publisher said that both new releases and catalog titles performed better than expected, especially in digital sales. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continued to attract players long after its launch, while The Adventures of Elliot brought in fresh audiences with its story-driven gameplay. Net sales also rose sharply, and the company noted that its strategy of releasing fewer but higher-quality titles is paying off.
Beyond console games, Square Enix saw steady growth in its mobile and PC browser games, as well as in its amusement and merchandising divisions. The company also pointed to cost controls and a favorable exchange rate as contributing factors. Looking ahead, Square Enix expects the momentum to continue, though it warned that the next quarter may not match the same level of growth due to a lighter release schedule. Still, the overall outlook for the fiscal year remains positive, with the company raising its full-year profit forecast.
