Rockstar's GTA Trailers Have Come a Long Way Since Liberty City

Rockstar has finally given us the launch trailer for GTA 6 ahead of its November 19 release date, and it looks spectacular. This shouldn't be a surprise, considering the developer has been honing its cinematic craft for decades now as it pushes the boundaries of what games are capable of. This 90-second extravaganza is no exception, delivering the kind of polished, sun-drenched chaos that has become the studio's signature.

Looking back at where it all started, the leap is staggering. The early trailers for GTA 3 showed a Liberty City that was revolutionary for its time but now looks like a blocky time capsule. Vice City brought neon and attitude. San Andreas expanded the scope to an entire state. Each new entry raised the bar for what a game trailer could accomplish.

By the time GTA 5 arrived, Rockstar had mastered the art of the reveal. The switch between Michael, Franklin, and Trevor in those early previews told a story before players ever touched a controller. Now, with Leonida on the horizon, the studio is once again setting expectations impossibly high.

The new trailer leans into the bond between its two leads, mixing heists, car chases, and the unmistakable Florida-inspired madness. If the final game matches even half of what we just saw, November cannot come soon enough.
