Rock vs Laser — Who is the best character in the new MARVEL Cosmic Invasion DLC?

The new MARVEL Cosmic Invasion DLC has players debating a classic matchup: raw power versus unbreakable defense. The two standout characters in the expansion are Cyclops, the optic-blast-wielding mutant, and The Thing, the ever-lovin' blue-eyed rock monster. Both are strong picks, but one hero clearly has the edge for most players.

Cyclops brings ranged devastation to the table. His optic blasts can clear crowds of enemies from a safe distance, and his tactical leadership skills provide buffs to nearby teammates. He excels in hit-and-run strategies, keeping pressure on bosses without taking too much damage. However, his low health and lack of close-range options make him vulnerable when enemies close the gap.

The Thing, on the other hand, is a brawler's dream. He absorbs damage like a sponge and dishes out heavy melee combos that stagger even the largest foes. His charge attack can break enemy formations, and his passive damage reduction makes him nearly unstoppable in the front lines. The downside is his slow speed and limited ranged options, which can leave him struggling against flying or teleporting enemies.

So who wins? For solo play, The Thing is the safer bet. His durability lets players make mistakes without dying, and his simple but effective moveset is easy to master. For team play, Cyclops shines. His ability to control the battlefield from afar and support allies makes him a valuable asset in coordinated groups.

the best character depends on your playstyle. But if you want a hero who can take a hit and keep swinging, The Thing has the edge. If you prefer to blast your way through from a distance, Cyclops is your man. Either way, the DLC offers two very different but equally satisfying ways to play.
