Arcade fans who remember the mid-90s have a reason to celebrate. Cyber Cycles, the futuristic motorcycle racer from Namco that hit arcades in 1995, is finally getting a home console release. The game, which came out right after the original Ridge Racer, was known for its sleek hoverbike design and fast, technical tracks. But for 31 years, it stayed locked in arcades with no port for any home system.
That changes now. The upcoming port will bring the full arcade experience to modern consoles, including the original mode where players race through neon-lit circuits at high speed. What made Cyber Cycles stand out back then was its sense of speed and the way it handled sharp turns with a banking system that felt fresh. It also had a unique visual style, with clean polygons and a bright, almost anime-like color palette that set it apart from other racers of the era.
Namco has not revealed every detail yet, but the port is expected to include the original arcade mode, plus some quality-of-life options like adjustable difficulty and screen settings. No word on online multiplayer, but the core single-player campaign should be intact. For collectors and retro enthusiasts, this is a rare chance to finally play a piece of arcade history without hunting down a cabinet.
The release date is still unannounced, but the announcement alone has sparked excitement among fans who have waited over three decades for this moment.
