Major Overhaul at Ubisoft: Multiple Game Cancellations and Studio Closures
January 21, 2026 - 23:34
In a significant restructuring move, Ubisoft has announced the cancellation of six games, including the highly anticipated remake of "Prince of Persia." This decision is part of a broader initiative to reorganize the company into five distinct "creative houses," each focusing on specific genres. The aim is to streamline development processes and enhance creativity across the board.
In addition to the game cancellations, Ubisoft has also delayed seven upcoming titles, signaling a shift in their strategic approach to game development. The company is prioritizing quality over quantity, hoping to deliver more polished and innovative experiences to players.
The restructuring has resulted in the closure of two studios, a move that reflects the challenges the company has faced in recent years. With increased competition in the gaming industry and changing consumer preferences, Ubisoft is taking decisive steps to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving market. This reset marks a pivotal moment for the company as it seeks to redefine its identity and future in the gaming landscape.
