Gaming News: Indonesia Considers Ban on Popular Video Games After School Explosion
November 10, 2025 - 19:50
Indonesia is contemplating a ban or strict regulation of popular video games, including PUBG, in the wake of a tragic explosion at a school that resulted in nearly 100 injuries. The incident has raised significant concerns among government officials and the public regarding the impact of violent video games on youth behavior.
President Prabowo Subianto has been vocal about the need for a thorough investigation into the causes of the explosion, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of children. As discussions unfold, many are questioning whether exposure to violent gaming content could play a role in influencing young minds.
The potential ban has sparked a heated debate among gamers, parents, and educators, with some arguing that video games are merely a form of entertainment and not responsible for real-world violence. Others believe that stricter regulations could help mitigate risks and protect vulnerable youth from harmful influences.
As the situation develops, the gaming community is closely monitoring the government's decisions, which could have significant implications for the industry in Indonesia.
