Fortnite's Return to iOS: Epic Games Extends Olive Branch to Apple
May 1, 2025 - 10:38
In a significant development following a recent court ruling, Apple has been mandated to cease charging commission on purchases made outside of apps. This ruling has opened the door for Epic Games to propose a return of its popular title, Fortnite, to the iOS platform. The game, which has been absent from Apple devices since 2020 due to a legal dispute over in-app payment policies, could soon make a comeback.
Epic Games has expressed a willingness to collaborate with Apple, suggesting a potential resolution that could benefit both parties. The company aims to reintroduce Fortnite to millions of iOS users who have been eagerly awaiting its return. The court's decision is seen as a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle between app developers and platform holders regarding revenue sharing and payment structures.
As negotiations unfold, the gaming community remains hopeful that Fortnite will soon be accessible on iOS, reigniting the vibrant player base that once thrived on the platform.
