The Anaheim Ducks are switching up how fans watch their games. Starting with the 2026-2027 season, every locally broadcast Ducks game will stream exclusively on Amazon's Prime Video. This marks the first time the team has partnered with a streaming platform for its full local slate, moving away from traditional cable and regional sports networks.
The deal covers all regular season games that would normally air on local TV, meaning Ducks fans in Southern California will need a Prime Video subscription to catch the action live. The move follows a broader trend in sports media, where streaming services are increasingly snapping up regional broadcast rights. Amazon has already dipped into hockey with national packages, but this is a deeper dive into the local market.
For the Ducks, the shift could bring a younger, cord-cutting audience that has drifted away from cable. But it also raises questions for older fans who may not be as comfortable with streaming apps. Amazon has not yet announced pricing details beyond the standard Prime membership, nor have they confirmed whether games will also be available on traditional TV as an overflow option.
The team says the change will offer more flexible viewing, including replays and mobile access. Preseason games are expected to be included in the package as well. The Ducks are the latest NHL club to embrace this model, following similar deals in other markets. Fans will have a full season to adjust before the puck drops under the new setup.
