In an unexpected turn, "Doom: The Dark Ages" has proven to be surprisingly playable on the Steam Deck, Valve's portable gaming device. Players have reported that by adjusting the graphics settings to "Low" and setting the resolution to 800p, they can enjoy a smooth gaming experience with frame rates ranging from 30 to 40 frames per second.
This performance is notable, especially considering the game's retro aesthetic and the Steam Deck's capabilities. The combination of lower graphics settings and a manageable resolution allows gamers to engage in intense action without significant lag. Many fans of the franchise are thrilled to see how well this classic title translates to the handheld format, offering a nostalgic experience that is both accessible and enjoyable on the go.
As more players dive into this retro adventure, it highlights the versatility of the Steam Deck and its ability to handle a variety of gaming experiences, even those from earlier eras.
